Is anyone as annoyed as I am by the new storyline on Grey's Anatomy? I HATE IT.
Anyone want to discuss last night's Grey's Anatomy? I'll admit it, I cried at the end. A lot.
As illustrated in last week's post about "I Am A Tree," sometimes very obvious things pass me by. So, please, dear readers, could you explain to me the timing around McSteamy's visit to Addison's hotel room? Tonight she referred to it as a "transcontinental booty call," which means that if she called him while drunk in the last episode, she had to probably wait like eight hours for him to show up. I don't get it. That seems ridiculous. Or had she planned out her booty call the same way she planned out her drunk day and that's why she asked for a cab at 10:00pm? Having said that, mmmmmm, McSteamy. When she slapped him and he just smiled at her? HOT. While I find it obnoxious that Meredith invited Derek and Finn to compete for her, and then got angry when they did, I thought her little speech at the end was funny. As for Izzie, when she does something, she really applies herself, huh? Laying on the bathroom floor for days, baking hundreds of muffins, and staring at a building for eight hours. And yay for Cristina, for finally realizing that Burke can't go it alone and needs someone to light a fire under his ass.
Two things about last night's Grey's Anatomy:
1) What does the title mean? I am a tree? What?
2) My TiVo cut off at the end! What happened immediately after ___________ walked out of the shower?
3) How dumb is George that he would even think Meredith's tiny little panties would, in any universe, fit Callie?
Again, everyone, I'm a day behind on Grey's Anatomy. So sorry. But you do fine without me, so discuss away! It will be next to impossible for me not to peek in and see what happened!! Is Burke dead? Denny? Doc the Dog? My stomach hurts!
I haven't watched Grey's Anatomy yet, as I was watching the Survivor finale instead. Discuss McDreamy and Meredith and George and everyone else here.
Well, last night on Grey's Anatomy, I remembered why the show revolves around Meredith. The speech she gave to Derek (or, as my husband called him, McCrabby) was awesome. "You don't have the right to call me a whore." It was good to see her stand up for herself and it was nice to see Callie do the same with George. "I did wash my hands." Aw, poor Callie. I love that she can't stand Meredith and Izzie, and I sort of hope it stays that way. But it's starting to seem like she's actually afraid of them, rather than repulsed. In other news, Denny appears to be on his way out, physically and emotionally. Izzie tries to help by crawling into bed with him...I cannot stand watching this nightmare unfold. It's going to be so awful when he dies. Harold from Harold & Kumar shows up as an intern who falls asleep behind the wheel after being awake for 48 hours, and causes a car accident that results in the death of a pregnant woman. Alex saves the baby, and Harold tearfully apologizes to the family in a scene that put a lump in my throat. I loved the way he kept saying, "I'm so sorry," while Meredith and George just looked at each other. Burke is angry at Cristina because she fell asleep on him during sex, and that story sort of seemed pushed in there as filler.
TiVo/VCR Alert: The season finale airs next Sunday AND Monday (for 2 hours). The Survivor reunion airs at the same time Sunday, and The Apprentice airs at the same time on Monday.
God, it seems like years since the last time we saw Grey's Anatomy, huh? I don't even know where to start. Well, Denny's still alive, so there's that. His and Izzie's little "thing" has become public knowledge, though, and I'm sure this will all work out quite well. EXCEPT THAT IT WON'T. How can you not love Denny, though? Meredith decides to start dating her vet, and their first date is birthing a horse together. Romantic! Addison gets Alex for the day, and he ends up causing a husband to bring a giant lawsuit against the Addison and the hospital. I'm really not 100% sure why Alex felt so strongly about the whole "don't tell my husband you're tying my tubes" thing, unless he's really THAT anti-woman. Izzie and George make up, George finally has a decent haircut, and Burke loses his personal musical hero on the operating table.
I didn't get a chance to watch Grey's Anatomy yet, but please feel free to go ahead and start gabbing about it!
On this episode we find out about superstition. Horoscopes, lucky surgery caps, being or not being struck by lightning, hot chocolate juju, and people who hate people who say "juju." A lot of people die on the table this week, but Denny isn't one of them. Meredith complains about Addison being nice to her, which is RICH. George continues his Meredith-strike, tortures Cristina, and calls Callie "ma'am." Izzie dumps Alex and kisses Denny. We find out that Webber is a recovering alcoholic, and that Ellis Grey was the problem.
It took me awhile, but I finally realized that every Grey's Anatomy epiosde title is a song. This week's was probably the most obscure one so far, though. I wonder why they chose it. Anyhoo. George cuts his own hair with manicure scissors like he's Billie Jean or something. It also turns out that George and Burke have becoming running partners, and also can perform a pretty decent egg toss. (Dirty!) Cristina is half-amused, half-terrified. Back at the hospital, Izzie is obsessing over Heart Patient Denny, and Alex is doing everything short of pissing on Denny's head to mark Alex as his. Meredith and McDreamy continue their "friendship," and it actually seems to be going okay. He gives her some advice about patching things up with George, and also realizes that he hasn't exactly been a model husband, thanks to the story of a patient with a brain aneurysm (played by Natalie Cole, who we did not even recognize until halfway in; I have no idea why). George and his new love interest are moving things right along, working on patients together and flirting.
I should have trusted the writers of Grey's Anatomy. I was quite worried about the Meredith/George hookup from last week, but it was handled well. Like someone wrote in the comments last week, this needed to happen for George to be able to let go of his Meredith fantasy. And I believe he has. When he said to the nurse (the one who gave him syphillis), "If you felt anything like I'm feeling right now, I'm so sorry," he just about broke my heart. And ending the show with him bunking with Burke and Cristina was great.
We got a glimpse of Addison this week as a normal human being, which I appreciated. We've always sort of just disliked her and it was nice to see some real regret and humor. Seeing her and McDreamy laughing at the poison oak situation showed a side of their relationship we hadn't yet seen. Izzie is once again way too close to one of her patients, and I can't believe that Alex is jealous. But as the geekboy pointed out, Izzie has a real connection with Denny the Heart Patient, where as with Alex it seems to be all sex.
Meredith and McDreamy have decided to be "just friends," which is only like the worst idea she's ever had.
Meanwhile, Bailey still rocks.
I'm sure there are a lot of things to discuss about last night's Grey's Anatomy, but unfortunately that all fell out of my head during the last few minutes, because NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Are they trying to assassinate the character of Meredith Grey? Because I don't see any way out of this that won't end up with George fans rioting in the streets and calling for Mere's head on a platter.
Grey's Anatomy picked up where it left off last week, with the bomb and the baby and the brain surgery and all that. It was an amazing episode - well done. Do I even have to say it? GEORGE. Oh George, when he crawled into Bailey's bed and made her have that baby. And they gave it George as a middle name! And Bailey's husband didn't die! The chief didn't die, either. In fact, he didn't even have a heart attack; it was anxiety. Finally, a normal reaction to something in that hospital.
The whole bomb storyline was giving me cold sweats. I was so relieved when Meredith finally got it out. Then I decided that Bomb Squad Hottie was going to die. But he didn't, and as he started to round the corridor corner, I thought, "Thank god." AND THEN THE EXPLOSION. And the pink mist. And Meredith on the floor. Wow. It really shocked me; I think the timing in that scene was just perfect.
When the girls brought Mere into the shower to clean her up, how brilliant was that? Calling back to George's fantasy shower dream from last week, but so very different. And this time, George decided not to watch. And Cristina told Burke she loves him! Awww.
Maybe I fell for all the hype, but last night's episode of Grey's Anatomy had me on the edge of my seat. From hearing myself mumbling, "No, no, no, no, no" when Bailey's husband appeared in the ER to actually gasping out loud at the reveal of Meredith's hand at the end - wow. Christina Ricci did a great job; especially the part where she was just standing there shaking.
Great moments: McDreamy wanting to call Burke by his first name. Izzie telling Alex that her "legs are closed to him," thereby ensuring that they would be shagging by episode's end. George hugging Bailey and her water immediately breaking. Christina finally doing what Ally McBeal's roommate should have always done and literally kicking Meredith out of bed. Alex screaming at Screaming Woman. Bailey asking Webber if he could give her a new vagina. I was hoping to see Christina express some fear over the fact that Burke was in danger, but she didn't. That made me sad.
[Sidenote: it has taken me THIS LONG to realize that the actor who plays Webber is the same guy who played Brandon Walsh's boss at the Beach Club on 90210. The one who was addicted to soap operas.]
Of course, the episode ended on a cliffhanger and I can hardly wait until next week.
This week on Grey's Anatomy we learn that Izzie's got a secret! Don't you think she gets way too involved with her patients? Seems like she's always giving out advice on how her patients should deal with things. I like Izzie but I can see that sort of behavior really screwing things up at some point. The rest of the episode was great, as usual. Meredith and McDreamy share a moment in a hospital closet; no kissing, though, and I'm glad, because if this is ever going to happen, McDreamy needs to leave his wife first. In other stories, Cristina questions Bailey's replacement and embarasses Burke and herself, much to Alex's delight. George refuses to cross the nurses' picket line, and really, could we love him any more? Next week's post-Superbowl episode looks very exciting, and was that Christina Ricci I spotted in the preview? Can't wait.
