I think when you wrote "go easy on the lipstick" you meant to write "go easy on the collagen injections."

As long as the Stephinator didn't win, I was happy. She bugged.

Janet at December 12, 2005 12:36 PM

I guess I was wrong. I thought Rafe was very petty.

Happy with the final show and I agree, I would have been OK with any of the final 4 winning...I would have really like to have seen Lydia do the balancing thing though!

Todd at December 12, 2005 12:38 PM

That balancing thing was crazy. I thought the one-rope part would last longer before they started teetering, but what do I know?

Yeah, all in all a pretty satisfying Survivor. The next one sounds interesting. Exile Island. Ooooooooooooh!

Jeremy at December 12, 2005 12:40 PM

I think Rafe is generally a great guy, but he's not as selfless as he would like to appear. He's as petty and jealous as the rest of us lowly humans, and definitely plays the martyr for all it's worth.

He just shouldn't have let Danni off the hook. I think he should have pressured her even more. He had a great chance at winning the whole thing.

How come no one made any deals during the challenge? No "I'll step down if you promise to take me," which I thought was weird.

I think Danni won because everyone else did her dirty work for her. She managed to make it to the end without screwing anyone over. Even though she allied herself with Rafe behind Gary's back, I don't think Gary could hold it against her. She came out practically unscathed.

Maggie at December 12, 2005 12:46 PM

"How come no one made any deals during the challenge"

too busy concentrating? I

Poor Cindy.. no jungle, no job.. at least she has her spiffy new car.

Soosan at December 12, 2005 12:56 PM

I think Danni's lips always look like that. But I bet she doesn't wear lipstick in real life, so during the reunion show she ended up looking like I would - totally uncomfortable.

http://tinyurl.com/dnd9j

I was disappointed in Rafe. "Do what you think is right, as long as it's what I want you to do." That let me down a bit.

I couldn't believe no one tried to cut deals during the challenge either, Maggie. Steph was killing me - she looked like she was in excruciating pain. I also can't believe Rafe just touched the pole like that. (dirty!) It's always those dumb mistakes that cost you the game.

Highlights? Lydia reading "sacred" as "scared." Judd saying, "Nobody hates losing." He's such an idiot. Jamie was apparently drunk. It was nice to see Amy; I loved her. And how awesome is it that Margaret and Brian are going to Guatemala to do relief work? They should bring Cindy with them. She doesn't have anything else to do.

freakgirl at December 12, 2005 12:56 PM

She can drive them to the airport and then pick them up when they come back. I loved how she had 30 seconds to sum up her time on the show (during the ceremonial Honour the Losers part) and she had to mention her car.

Maggie at December 12, 2005 01:03 PM

really tho, they should be honest with the job titles on the show. It should have said "ex-zookeeper"

She came across very sad. I do hope she finds work again, something outdoorsy of course, it's her favourite game to play.

Soosan at December 12, 2005 01:05 PM

I wish Jeff had asked that one girl about being a magician's assistant. Or Lydia about being a fishmonger.

Oh, are we so excited about next season? An exile island? Color me intrigued!

freakgirl at December 12, 2005 01:12 PM

Okay, the whole freaking out about eating the chicken was a little over the top. It was nice that they all got a little taste of the Mayan culture, but seriously. Either they were gonna eat the chicken or some crazy jungle animal was gonna eat it that night. Heck that little extra protein could've been the difference between Rafe making that bone head move by forgetting and touching the log and the final two. AND THEN telling Dani "I release you from your obligations to me"? What the heck he coulda seriously used a little brain food. What the heck did he think he was doing? What is he the freakin' Pope? "I absolve you"?!?!? That by far is one of the dumbest things I've seen since Colby took Tina to the final two rather than Keith from "Carrots and Peas"!!

Ron at December 12, 2005 01:14 PM

I was hoping Probst would've asked Lydia, "You mentioned you share Hispanic heritage with the Maya and that their ritual affected you deeply. Why is it then that you had no qualms about disrespecting the Maya by eating their chicken they specifically told you NOT to eat?" Not that I really care about the ritual, but she went on about her heritage. Reminded me of Keenyah on Top Model who was babbling about how it was more special to her, a black girl, being in S. Africa and going to Nelson Mandela's old jail cell. And then asking, "Is he dead?" Dar!

Marie at December 12, 2005 01:19 PM

Carrots and Peas! Oh my god! I just threw up all over again at the memory. Gag.

Well, they didn't freak out enough to regret actually eating the chicken. But they were kind of ashamed when telling Jeff about it, which I found absolutely hilarious.

I'm not a superstitious person, but then again, I'm not a NOT superstitious person either. I get scared of the dark sometimes (don't tell) and I touch wood because it can't hurt. If I had eaten a sacrificial chicken after 37 days in the jungle and then it rained like that, I would have slept with one eye open. You know. Just in case.

Maggie at December 12, 2005 01:21 PM

memory lagging... carrots and peas?

Soosan at December 12, 2005 01:23 PM

Keith from Survivor Australia had a girlfriend half his age and when they got to speak to their loved ones, Keith and his girlfriend got all gross and kept calling each other Carrots and Peas. Vomitous.

Maggie at December 12, 2005 01:35 PM

I understand why they ate the chicken (although Stephanie had just had a huge meal the night before, no?) but I thought it was incredibly disrespectful. Think if you were Catholic and invited someone into your church and when you turned your back, they drank the holy water.

freakgirl at December 12, 2005 01:37 PM

Honestly, I think the game was finished by the time Danni won that final immunity. As Steph pointed out, Rafe played largely the same game that she did -- backstabs and all. He just won a few more challenges. So he might have gotten 1 or 2 "respect" votes. But this jury seemed to vote very personally, so in the end, I think "come from behind" Danni had no problem getting the votes she needed to win. Did you see the way Judd and Greg were rolling their eyes when Rafe spoke during the last tribal council?

Now a Rafe/Steph showdown, THAT might have been interesting.

But I'm very happy with Danni winning. She earned it. And she really was the least petty of the final three.

GeekBoy at December 12, 2005 01:37 PM

:\

Soosan at December 12, 2005 01:37 PM

I agree with Geekboy -- were were deprived of a Rafe-Steph showdown.

I thought Danni's best moment at TC was when she basically told Rafe that the whole premise of his question was wrong; that Stephenie was in fact more deserving to be there than he.

yahtzee at December 12, 2005 01:48 PM

I thought this last season too: I honest-to-god think Steph looks better Survivor-style than she does all made up. Ug, the hair.

I missed it - did Cindy did get fired or her zoo closed or what?

Also, I was thinking if an entirely different set of three had been in the final immunity challenge, it would have been entirely possible that no one would have figured out the key was to lean on one pole. Steph basically found that position by accident and the other two followed suit. Shit, would Lydia have even been able to reach? And Danni is so tall it looked a lot easier for her.

Jane at December 12, 2005 03:05 PM

I think Cindy said that she had to give up her job in order to go on the show.

I was wondering if Lydia had made the final 3, if they would have given her a modified platform or something.

freakgirl at December 12, 2005 03:16 PM

Danni certainly had a "leg up" over the other two.

;)

Soosan at December 12, 2005 03:16 PM

When Lydia was voted out, I hoped she would say, "I hope you all get bit by a freaking crocodile. Scumbags!" Maybe en espanol but with a smile.

They shouldn'a done eaten that sacrifical foul. No sirree. Bad ba-aaad karma. Apocalyptical rain, thunder and bad hair & make-up choices to follow.

And Cindy, she Did have to mention the brand new caw-er in her incredibly elastic accent. But I expected it, really.

luscious loulou at December 12, 2005 05:44 PM

An awesome Survivor finale, following one of the best Survivors to date, in my opinion. I agree, Steph looks better while playing the game then she does in real life. I'm a Jersey girl myself so I hate to feed into any stereotypes, but she really does look like the stereotypical Jersey girl, particularly with the big hair.

Marie at December 12, 2005 09:18 PM

I'm a fan of the natural look. Make-up is great -- I love make-up, but so much make-up you no longer resemble your own face? TOO MUCH. Both of these beautiful women were practically wearing masks. Ah, too bad.

Maggie at December 12, 2005 10:59 PM

Maggie, in an interview with Danni, she said she was going to break her promise to Rafe, anyway, so him letting her out of it didn't really matter.

And freakgirl, the magician's assistant was Morgan, who was voted out second.

I think it's a real gyp that Lydia didn't make the final three, at least. But I do believe she earned her way to the final four.

Danni deserved her win definitely and completely.

Jamison at December 13, 2005 12:25 AM

i hate to do this, but can anyone help me out? i missed the last 20-25 minutes of the finale/reunion. don't know if it's something i did wrong with my vcr or if it was something with the network starting the show late, but my tape cut off right when Jeff was about to talk about changes in the cast members' "looks." what did Amy have to say? who was the one who wanted to continue living in the jungle and why? any surprise prizes? what else did i miss? agh!

Tobi at December 13, 2005 01:11 AM

Tobi, the show ran over because of football, at least here in the NYC area, so it probably wasn't anything you did.

Amy told Gary she was going to "BEAT HIS ASS" or whatever it was for lying to her about the football stuff. And she said that sometimes when she's locking up criminals, they say, "Hey, weren't you on Survivor?" So funny. Cindy is the one who misses the jungle and wants to go back. She said she misses the jungle noises and sleeping on the ground. No surprise prizes.

freakgirl at December 13, 2005 08:10 AM

Tobi, for the change in looks Jeff focused on both Amy and Judd for losing weight.

Me? I thought Mr. Farmer Dude (Brandon?) looked completely different.

Soosan at December 13, 2005 09:31 AM

I am soooo happy Danni won! I didnt even want Steph to go to the final 2. I am sorry, but that girl is as dumb as rocks.

Think about it--one of the final immunity challenges--required a puzzle--Steph leads all until she has to use her brain.

Rafe and his "nice guy" game face--backfired on him--oh well..........

I didnt like this season mainly because of the location and lack of personalitys--it was boring most nights. So I hope this new one is better--anyone know when that begins?

Bubbi at December 13, 2005 09:49 AM

thanks FG and Soosan! :) did they say where the next season will be?

Tobi at December 13, 2005 01:00 PM

I believe it's back in Panama.

freakgirl at December 13, 2005 01:24 PM

Did anyone else see ET last night? They covered the finale and there were a couple interesting bits. Danni says she's put (back) on 30 lbs and was pretty shocked at how bony she was. Steph says she's regained 25 "And I still can't stop eating!"

Also they had various pairs cram into a dumb ET photo booth - Steph and Judd were in there with Steph on Judd's lap - and she whined to him, "You're lucky, you get to out tonight, I have to go to New York..." and they were all buddy-buddsville. Judd's vitriol toward her seems to have been for the cameras, shocker.

Jane at December 13, 2005 01:51 PM

:O (that's my face of shock, cute isn't it)
