Oh geez...that was Gay Matt as Lynette's husband? I was too busy handing her the cast-iron skillet to whack him on the head to notice. I loved the show too, but they really need to tone down Susan's daughter. Too smart for her own good.

Stacy at October 4, 2004 08:40 AM

I really, really liked it. Teri Hatcher's acting is surprisingly on for this show. And of course, Felicity Huffman is great. I think I'm gonna give up on Jack and Bobby and go back to ABC Sunday nights at 8pm.

elizabeth at October 4, 2004 08:42 AM

Loved it. American Beauty on crack, viscious, and campy as a mofo. So good.

charlie at October 4, 2004 09:23 AM

Okay, a little dissent here--it wasn't quite up to the hype. However...

I love the cast (especially F. Huffman) more than I thought I would, and it's fun to look at the plastic surgery disaster that Nicolette Sheridan has become, but I was a little discombobulated by the show. Is it a comedy? Is it camp? Is it a mystery? Is it a full-on soap? I'm sure the answer is, "All of these things and more," but I was working so hard to get my head around the genre that it was a little difficult to connect with the show itself.

Still, there was enough going on to make me come back next week--I hope plotlines get tangled and convoluted and a little outlandish (but not much), since that's what brings me back to soaps on a regular basis--I like to be rewarded for paying attention (a la Alias).

Max at October 4, 2004 09:26 AM

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would - I figured I wouldn't last through the show but now I want to see next week at least.

Justin at October 4, 2004 09:47 AM

What a great hour. I totally loved this show, though, I wasn't expecting the mystery. Maybe it will be like Charlie's Angels in the suburbs. I loved how quickly Terri and Felicity's characters were developed. I actually feel invested in them already. And, holla if you loved the landscaper!

J.Go at October 4, 2004 09:55 AM

Landscaper = yum. But damn, he's young! Oh, when Felicity Huffman went into the pool to get those rotten kids, in her best funeral dress and heels? Hilarious.

freakgirl at October 4, 2004 10:19 AM

If anyone has info on a repeat of this episode, please post it.

Mike at October 4, 2004 10:44 AM

The landscaper---isn't he on the daytime soap "Passions?" (Which, for anyone who's never seen an episode, is worth checking out at least once.)

I liked the show, but I didn't love it, and I'm still trying to figure out why...

Rain at October 4, 2004 10:46 AM

Oh---and the repeat is this Saturday at 10pm on ABC.

Rain at October 4, 2004 10:48 AM

Loved it loved it loved it. Tim Burton meets thirtysomething. Sometimes there is nothing as satisfying as richly detailed stereotypes.

I see what Max means by not nailing the genre - which is why I think I liked it. It made me curious to see which directions they pick.

Wow, ABC has two amazing dramas this season, what with this and Lost. Who knew?

Janet at October 4, 2004 10:55 AM

Yeah, the landscaper was Miguel on "Passions". Haven't watched the show in ages so I don't know if he's still on it, however.

Casey at October 4, 2004 12:04 PM

Nope, Miguel left this summer with Charity on Passions. Loved the fact that he was the gardener bonking the psycho from Y&R; LOL! I was not sure about watching it, then I saw the beginning and had.to.watch.it all! I was laughing at F.Huffman going into the pool too. Now I want to know what Mary Alice's hubby was digging up...I am hooked! Cannot wait til next week!

Tobey at October 4, 2004 01:34 PM

Yay. So, I wonder if they will run "Desperate" every week with new episodes until January ... when "Alias" comes back? (I actually watched "Boston Legal" too -- fun stuff, surprisingly.)

Keith at October 4, 2004 04:43 PM

Loved it. REALLY loved it when Felicity Huffman punched Big Gay Matt. And when she went into the pool. Can't wait for next week. What do we think is buried in that pool?

Cristiane at October 4, 2004 06:09 PM

Thank god they're repeating. MUST SEE!

gigamatt at October 5, 2004 07:40 AM

Loved it. I need Bree to tone down a bit because of all of them, she's just a bit over the top and T.Hatcher's daugher too. Teri doesn't look old enough to have a daughter that age, anyway. Felicity is AWESOME...definitely the strongest character in the show. All in all, it was a total blast. Thank God there's a n evening soap that ISNT NorthShore or any other A&F; product placement smear. When do we get to meet the fun gay couple neighbors who the women all love?

As an aside, have you EVER seen greener grass? Is that even real?

Beau at October 5, 2004 09:45 AM

I have to interject quickly, and kind of late in that it's now WEDNESDAY, that Affair Boy Gardener, is beyond delicious. And he's like not even remotely my type. Just needed to share that with someone.

S.John at October 6, 2004 06:44 AM

"Desperate Housewives" was no. 1 in the ratings for last week. Whoo hoo!

elizabeth at October 6, 2004 12:07 PM

Oh, Saturday ABC at 10, natch! I'm so glad I have another chance. The nightime soap opera gods are smiling on me.
