Toral sucks.

Fantasy Game...I'm in second place. Woo hoo!
That won't last long though.

DaisyLou2 at October 7, 2005 08:36 AM

I think the difference here is that Marcus didn't really do anything to lose the challenge last week -- Chris mainly brought him in because nobody likes him, and he figured it was an easy pick. But Jennifer W did heavily contribute to the loss this week, and Rebecca knew that.

I'm not even convinced that if Rebecca had brought Toral to the board room, Trump would have fired her over Jennifer W. Did Trump ever actually say that? Or was he just adamant that Toral should have been brought to board room, based on her performance? My suspicion is that if she'd actually been there, Trump might have cut her the same kind of slack that he cut Marcus. But Rebecca took the choice out of his hands, and that pissed him off. His pride comes first.

don't mess with a man in a pink tie

Soosan at October 7, 2005 09:07 AM

Whoo hoo! I've finally taken my rightful place at the top of the Fantasy League heap!!!

Joey Jo-Jo at October 7, 2005 11:04 AM

I'm right on your heels, Daisy and Joey!

GeekBoy at October 7, 2005 11:33 AM

My initial thought was that Rebecca won't last long, with her condescending 'leadership' style and disregard for the rest of the team (a gaggle of intellectual lightweights, save for Toral). Then again, I can see her staying under the radar for a while as long as she keeps her mouth shut and attitude in check.

psorr at October 7, 2005 01:37 PM

damn you, joey jo-jo. i thought we discussed last year that you can't win. anyway, we all know it's going to come down to the lucky bastard that picked Whoever It Is That Shall Be Declared Thee Winnar like a week into the game.

i despise rebecca. she should have been fired for A) being a snot, B) not bringing toral into the boardroom because they're FRIENDS and C) the fact that she said no other woman could win the game 'cept for toral.
i also fire donald for essentially keeping rebecca because of her "integrity." integrity would have brought the person the ENTIRE TEAM hates back into the boardroom. gross.

i definitely want the boys to win now.

sar at October 7, 2005 04:53 PM

Yeah, I thought the "integrity" bit was lame. You've known these people for what, 2 weeks?, and your friendship is more important than winning these tasks or not getting fired? I don't know how putting a personal relationship over business constitutes integrity. I would think that showing integrity means being honest about who's doing a good job and who's screwing up the task rather than ignoring poor performance and playing favorites. ... Perhaps that's why I have so few friends. ;)

Oh, and I've punted on the fantasy game; too much work M-Th night to play. :(

Tricia at October 7, 2005 06:12 PM

I really liked Rebecca until I saw their presentation. I didn't understand why the room looked so big and empty! If they only had a few stations, why weren't they closer together? Obviously nothing was coordinated and no one really had any idea how to educate their audience about the technology they were demonstrating. Then when she said all that crap about why she wasn't bringing Toral into the boardroom, I totally lost all respect for Rebecca. I have never understood friendships where one friend puts herself below the other one for NO REASON. She wants a woman to win, so Toral stays. Didn't you say you played to win at the beginning of the ep? Don't you want to win now? And even bringing up that she was continuing on with a broken ankle was stupid. It just sounded really pathetic.

Toral and the tv cracked my shit up. I love when "smart people" don't RTFM and then make the excuse that they're way too smart to be able to understand such a piece of equipment. She reminded me of the Fed Ex commercial where the new guy needed to be shown how to use the simple software because he had a degree. "Oh...you have an MBA. Then I'd better show you."

So far it seems as though the guys are generally really supportive of each other and I think this will help them beat out the women in the long run. Clay is a big freak, and I think it warms Marcus' heart that they will choose him over Clay. I love how, when Randal asked him why he said those things in front of George, Clay responded basically that he did it to save his own ass in case they lost. Him am smart.

I've had it with Kristy, too. They only show her when she's complaining about the PM. Oh, and Alla, too. "We're not jazzed! How not fun!"

Maggie at October 8, 2005 02:32 AM

I wish I were invited to the "Tethno Expo".

B-Side at October 8, 2005 03:21 AM

haha! I loved how Carolyn pointed it out to her and she didn't even care. "But my grandmother likes cake."

freakgirl at October 8, 2005 09:44 AM

a tethno party, with a distho ball!

Soosan at October 8, 2005 10:47 AM

"My grandmother likes cake! I even had diabetic cookies!" Poor, sad Jennifer. I realized the biggest difference between the two teams' expos: the women threw what looked like a party at an old folks' home, while the men threw what looked like a regular party whose guests could have been any age.

Maggie at October 8, 2005 12:37 PM

I like cake as much as the next person, but the guys team had COOKIES, really good cookies. It was a clear win for the guys, right then and there. I'm sad neither team had a laser light show...

Soosan at October 8, 2005 12:53 PM

I absolutely love Rebecca and, while I think her explanation for not bringing Toral in wasn't that good, Trump seemed to buy it. So obviously, it couldn't have been that bad.

Jennifer W. DESERVED to be fired. They lost in the way their event was planned and set up, and she completely mucked that part up. Therefore, Trump made the right choice.

And Randal deserved his exemption. He led well, kept everyone in check, and never once let things get out of control.

Alla only complained once about Rebecca's leadership, but obviously for a good reason. When she talks about someone's leadership, she doesn't try to sound mean about it. But Kristi flat-out WHINES about her Project Managers, so I think she may be fired soon.

Jamison at October 8, 2005 05:55 PM

alla complains about everyone's leadership. everyone there, when not the project manager, thinks the other project manager is effin' it up.

the girls didn't lose because of crappy planning on jennifer w.'s part. they lost because of that AND because toral didn't know what she was doing.

when trump said "the point of this task was to make something inviting and nice," i'm sitting there thinking "oh, because i thought it was about teaching old people how to tivo." because it WAS. that's where this all got messed up. jennifer W. didn't stand up for herself very well, that's for sure. girls. psht.

sar at October 8, 2005 08:06 PM

The truth is this. All the women tried to deliver. Jennifer W. was the only one who didn't. Therefore, that's why she was fired.

And I really think Alla's critiquing her Project Managers without whining about it. Kristi DOES whine about it.
